Technology Can Pinpoint The Location Of A Shipment Through To Users Desk

Bohemia, NY -- TransportGistics today introduced new technology that automatically tracks shipments from the moment a carrier picks them up until they are delivered to the final recipient, whether the recipient is a person or location (warehouse bin, stock room, etc.).  The product, TRaIDS.net, also confirms delivery and electronically stores that confirmation for full accountability.  This is the latest addition to TransportGistics’ strong portfolio of web based transportation and logistics management solutions.

TRaIDS promises complete mobility and end to end visibility for multi-modal shipments from origination, through receipt to the ultimate internal destination; a person, a warehouse bin, or a staging area. TRaIDS (www.TRaIDS.net) provides users with real time access to intransit and post receipt information by recording and tracking the movement of goods from the time they leave the shipper’s building, through the receiving process, until they reach the final internal destination.

Using a combination of EDI, XML, PDA’s, automatic data collection devices, RF and the web, TRaIDS enables existing material handling processes to be accommodated with no change to existing processes other than imposing the discipline of compliance. TRaIDS collects shipment data along the supply-chain such as purchasing, vendor shipping, carrier operations, receiving and internal delivery and makes it instantly available to authorized users through the web.

“The portable devices that we deploy can read a host of carrier bar code symbologies, in fact, we haven’t found a bar code that we can not read” says Alan Miller, President of TransportGistics.  Receiving personnel need to be accountable for delivery to the right people (or location) at the right time. While some companies perform this task well, they lack the internal tracing and accountability to positively prove that they correctly delivered the product. According to Miller “often times, the ultimate recipient of product within the company will claim that they never received the product and will burden receiving personnel (both in time and costs) with requests to track down the product or reorder the product.”  Now users will be able to pinpoint the location of the shipment, whether it is at a carrier’s terminal or on the third floor of their building, en route for delivery.

With TRaIDS, receiving personnel automatically capture bar code data associated with each shipment and are assisted with staging those shipments.  Immediately upon receipt, verification of deliveries is achieved and recipients or other interested parties are notified that their shipments have arrived. In addition, users can track their shipments from the moment the carrier picks them up until they are delivered to their desk, shipments can be delivered to people as well as to locations (warehouse bins, stock rooms, etc.), and delivery confirmation is achieved (through signature or scan of employee id's) and electronically stored for full accountability.
